< The deepening of global value chains and its implication for economic security >

The recent fragmentation of production stages across national borders has created a complex interdependence between global economic actors. What we call global value chains (GVCs) now represent the nature of the modern global economy in which countries work together to produce goods and services worldwide. While many believe that GVCs bring countries closer together, we also witness growing tensions where countries use GVCs to pursue political goals. In this talk, I will introduce various measures in input-output analysis to understand GVCs and their implications for economic security.
